johnThe founder of Clemente Real Estate Services, John Clemente, grew up in Long Island, N.Y.  After serving overseas in Germany in the US Army, he became a journeyman cabinetmaker in Largo, FL. In 1981, he moved to Colorado Springs with his family, purchased a home and continued his work as a cabinetmaker.

By 1985, John was ready for a new challenge. After attending a real estate investment seminar, he became fascinated with the income potential of real estate. John enrolled in real estate school with the objective of learning as much as possible about investing. He then became a sales agent with a local real estate company. Shortly after entering the business, John was offered an opportunity to become a realtor and property manager when the company opened a new office in the Broadmoor area. After 6 years, he had become a top agent and property manager within the company. Once again, John was ready for another challenge.

In 1991, John learned that RE/MAX, a national real estate company based out of Denver, didn’t have a property management department in Colorado Springs. He joined RE/MAX and developed a property management department. Thirteen years later, after managing hundreds of rental properties and selling millions of dollars worth of real estate, John decided to it was time to open his own company.

John purchased an office building on the corner of North Academy and North Union, and opened Clemente Real Estate Services in April of 2004. Along the way, John actively invested in single family homes throughout Colorado Springs and in several resort areas out of state. His unique perspective of the real estate business, along with his personal expertise in sales, property management and his original passion, real estate investing, also lead to two of his three children joining him in the business. John has assisted numerous investors in IRS 1031 exchanges and was a founding member of NARPM (National Association of Residential Property Managers) in Colorado Springs at it’s inception in 1992.

In July of 2023, after 38 years in Real Estate, John decided that it was finally time to retire from property management, and passed ownership of Clemente Real Estate Services to his eldest child, his daughter, Melissa Jeffrey. She now proudly carries on her family’s business legacy, building on the skills her father taught her and bringing new perspective to the business.

  • Melissa Jeffrey

    BROKER/ OWNER/ PROPERTY MANAGER

    Melissa Jeffrey began with Clemente Real Estate Services since 2012 as a front desk assistant and went on to become the maintenance coordinator.  As a licensed Realtor since 2016, she has had many different responsibilities at the company over the years, such as bookkeeper and office manager. In 2023, she became the Broker/ Owner and Property Manager of Clemente Real Estate Services as her father, John Clemente, stepped down take different role as a Broker Associate and enjoy “partial retirement”.

    Melissa is well versed on all aspects of the company, as she’s worked them all at one time or another.  Please feel free to reach out for assistance via email or give us a call at the office.

  • Leah Smith

    Leasing Coordinator

    Leah has been with Clemente Real Estate Services since 2014.  She handles much of the day to day workings in our office, from processing our rental applications, preparing leases to assisting our prospective tenants with the application process.  She also handles all of our lease renewals and move outs and handles our general inquiries when you call our office.

    Leah is a valued asset to our company and we’re happy to have her with us for over a decade!
